advertising introduction

1)The conventions in the NIKE air poster are the logo:The logo is called Nike air this might connote that the shoe itself is as light as air or it might be that it makes you as fast as the wind. The picture of product is in the centre of the poster the shoe itself is glowing a light on the side of it this makes the shoe look heavenly and is the shoe that stands out as it is perfect. The slogan: The slogan is "Nike-Air is not a shoe" this connotes that it is has become more than something you wear, you use it to play foot ball or run around showing that it has changed. The colour scheme is a bright white colour which is behind the shoe, this makes the shoe look better and brighter as it contrasts with the picture making it look pure. The red in the shoes makes it look energetic and fierce as the shoe is meant for running around.

2) The logo appeals to the audience because it known by majority of people so when people see the name NIKE they remember all their are other shoes and how most of them are good making them want to buy the newest one. The colour scheme appeals to the audience because it's vibrant and bright which appeals to young children and teenagers the most. The slogan attracts people as it makes the audience feel as if that its much more as it has more uses than a normal shoe.

3)The USP for the NIKE Air product is that the shoe has holes inside the shoe which allow it to bring air into the shoes so that its easier to walk or run and the air soles soles on the shoe reduce impact of the person jumping.

Reveal CSP case study

General

1)The types of people who read reveal are an mainstream type of people, they don't have a lot of money and are most likely a lower middle/working class citizens that read the Reveal magazine, they are most likely going to be between the age 20-30.

2)The editor introduces the magazine by showing the price tag, this draws in some people to come and buy the magazine as it is cheap compared to classy magazines.

3)The difference between reveal and tatler is that reveal's audience are not as rich as tatlers audience, tatler also focuses on fashion and accessories making it so that their audience wants to get this fashion and don't really care about the price. However reveal focuses on the celebrities and don't really focus on fashion, reveal also shows a lot of gossip and reveals drama going on in the celebrities lives. Tatler doesn't have any free offers but reveal does(tatler has sell lines instead.)

4)Reveal audiences are interested in the gossip of celebrities and they want to capture the stories going up in their lives, they like to see drama in the celebrities lives like relationship problems.

Media Language

1)Reveal has 10 magazine conventions out of the 12 conventions that are their.

2)The font used is a sans serif, this shows that reveal is a Modern type of magazine and looks at the new and old celebrities within their magazine.

3)The cover lines appeal to the audience by talking about what is happening in the celebrities lives and they show drama or upcoming events to do with the celebrity themselves. This draws them in as it is the one thing they are interested in when reading the magazine.

4)The color scheme, red yellow pink and blue, suggest that the magazine is energetic and everything is passionate with the magazine and all that it contains

5)The images on the front cover are made to interest the reader by spreading their pictures around the magazine using the rule of thirds. One reason this interests the reader is because if they use juxtaposition, like in the "Katie plots secret meetings with Pete" this makes it look a lot more appealing as it looks suspicious. another reason is that making them pose makes the celebrity more appealing to certain groups which in return makes people attracted to the magazine as they see a celebrity they like or know. The last reason is that their facial expression is usually always smiling and they look straight at the camera.

6)The difference between Tatler and reveal in typography and design is that Tatler uses a purple, black or white serif while reveal uses a white, yellow or blue sans serif, the effect of this is that Tatler uses a more glamorous and plain look and than leaves the rest to its image while reveal shows a more brighter look and has vibrant colours, this makes the audience a little more attracted to the magazine as it is brighter. another difference is that reveal has multiple photos while Tatler only has one image(the central image),the effect on the Tatler reader is that they focus on one thing the person and their fashion. The effect on Reveal is that they get to see more of what they want. The last difference is that Tatler's cover lines talk more about fashion and Reveal's cover lines talk about the celebrities lives. This makes sure both Tatler and Reveal readers get their interests, making them want to read the magazine even more.

Representations

1)The groups of people being represented in the Reveal magazine cover are the celebrities, mothers and relationships.

2)The types of celebrities that are being represented in the Reveal magazine are the celebrities who are in a relationship or having relationship problems.

3)The stereotypes being  reinforced are that every celebrity has to have a relationship with someone. Another stereotype being reinforced is that celebrities are usually rich this makes their life more different to our types of lives

4)Reveal wants the reader to have a aspiring point of view when it comes to the celebrities this is because if they look up to the celebrity than they will want to be like them and find out more about the drama or relationships in their life, this entices the reader as they will have to keep buying the magazine to find out more about all of the celebrities.

5)The preferred reading for the cover of Reveal is that celebrities are presented as glamorous and perfect. This is because of how they are always looked up to and they have all done something that makes them world known.

The oppositional reading for the cover of reveal is that celebrities are presented as people who always have to be in a relation ship and who always have drama going on in their lives. This is because in the magazine they only show the drama and relationships going on in the celebrities lives but they don't really show anything positive to do with them.

Social and historical context

1)Reveal doesn't focus on the normal people in Britain, they only show celebrities on their magazine as they only want to attract the people interested in the celebrities.

2)The cover lines suggest that the audience themselves have a boring or ordinary life style so they want to read someones elses life style as it is a lot more interesting compared to theirs. The issue with this is that the reveal readers are most likely to have self esteem issues.

3)One of the issues that appear in reveal is that men are put to the side compared to the women also they make the men generic and do the same things in most of the magazines they are in. One feature that appears in most of the magazines I have seen is relationship problems and celebrities insecurity.

4)Their are some celebrities who have been been on the front cover of Reveal, this is probably because of how they have a lot of drama in their lives or relationship problems making it more appealing to see another piece of drama from a particular person.

Tattler Case Study

General
1)The trailer shows that the people that produce and read  tatler are most likely rich/upper class white people, they are also obsessed with fashion.

2)The editor introduces Tattler by describing their target audience as the richest readers. They compliment the audience and say that they get inspired virtually and physically by their magazines.

3)one of the demographic details is the age, in the Tatler magazine it is mostly aimed at 30+ as it does not seem that younger audiences would find anything appealing towards their interests, another demographic detail is the gender, this is mainly for females as most of the people in their centre image are women. Their social class is probably B (Middle class) as the magazine has a rich feel and look but at the same time it isn't all glamorous. The average Tatler reader is a middle class 30 year old female who is above average when it comes to money.

4)Tatler readers think that fashion is amazing and they spend a lot of their money when it comes to the dresses and accessories, 81% of Tatler readers and 75% of Tatler.com users have designer shoes and accessories showing how much they love fashion, £843 million was spent on fashion in the past year.

5)The special editions that run across the year is the travel guide, weddings guide, beauty & cosmetic surgery guide,  spa guide, watches & jewellery guide, schools guide.

Media Language

6) 6 of the 12 conventions are seen in the Tatler magazine.

7)The font used in the magazine is a purple serif. This connotes that she herself is classy and traditional in the way she acts and the clothes she wears

8)The font for the cover lines is a bold sans serif

9)The cover lines appeal to the tatlers target audience by selling fashion and other accessories which their audience is obsessed with.

10)The colour scheme (purple) chosen for the magazine shows glamour and royalty which in itself goes with the chosen main image.

11)The props she is using in the magazine are a two strand pearl necklace, a choker necklace and eye liner, these would attract the fashion and accessory lovers as they will want to buy this for themselves. Another reason why the central image will create interest is because of the way she looks as certain people will find her attractive. (even though most of the audience is women some will be men) Lastly a reason why people will get interested because of the main image is that her facial expression and body position stands out which might attract people who are not looking for anything in particular.

Representation

12)The types of people represented in the magazine are above average/people with more money than most people and people obsessed with fashion, accessories or modeling.

13)The cover line shows that the life style of their audience is luxurious and they dont really need to bother about how expensive something is. also they live life lively by going many places (e.g. clubs)

14)One of the stereotypes that tatler is reinforcing is that rich people have to be in a couple, another is that they cant stop buying things as they do not need to worry about using to much of their own money.

15)The preferred reading for the tatler magazine is that rich females are glamorous and beautiful, this is because of how the woman is popular because of her modeling and using all of the accessories and fashion.

The oppositional reading is that the tatler magazine portrays rich females as obnoxious and arrogant, this is because in the magazine it shows the luxury's of having a lot of money but most of them think to much of themselves as they are a higher class compared to other people.

Social and Cultural context

16)One of the aspects that are not touched on by tatler is how in Britain the weather is bad and some of the stereotypes about how we are very posh.

17)Since tatler runs special issues, this shows that their representation of Britain is that most of us middle class citizens as we have enough money to plan for each of these, also they represent Britain as explorers/adventurous.

18)The group of people that would be offended by the April 2017 are the rich men and women as they themselves might not be depicted as the tatler magazine portrays them as, they might want a simple life and not all of latest accessories or latest fashion. Also the women would be a little bit more offended as the magazine might imply that you need this fashion or this look to be classified as rich.

19)Some of the regular problems for tatler's magazines is that they only show women since it is mainly targeted at the women audience, this means that their wont really be many male readers for the magazine. Another problem is that they only target the richer audience, making it so that the poorer audience doesn't really want to go for this type of magazine as they can get cheaper magazines with more things they are interested in.
