audience theory

Question 1. Passive audiences: this is the view that audiences take in information from the media that has the same effect on everyone.

Question 2. active audiences: this is the most generally accepted view that audiences interact with the media they consume.

Question 3.hypodermic needle theory: this is the suggestion hat audiences are always passive and therefore take the intended message from the producer as if it was injected into their minds. This assumes no difference in audience members.
this is kind of bad because of how they only focus on one type of audience community/members while they don't think of other types of consumers.(Aspirer reformer explorer succeeder Resigned struggler etc.)

Question 4.
Information or Surveillance: Planet earth 2/documentarys. this gives information about animal life and plant life, giving you new information weather you like the animals or not it still appeals to a lot of people who are willing to learn more about the living parts of the planet/wildlife.(planet earth is a mainstream since it appeals to a lot of audiences.) this mostly appeals to adults above 20.

Identity:The chase/quiz shows. These fit into this category because of how any one can sign up onto to it to see if they can win the shows challenges to get a some kind of reward/prize. This makes consumers draw towards quiz shows because if you win you will get something you want.(the producers get money through advertising and sponsorship but will lose money if the consumer wins.)

Diversion/Entertainment: PS4(games). games provide an easy escape from reality giving them entertainment and indulgence for the struggler to keep them busy from whats happening in the world. this fits because it is one of the easiest ways to do it.

Relationship: holby city(drama)/soap operas: this fits into this category because of how long certain shows go on for, usually dramas and soap operas go on for a while this gives the audience a connection with the characters and since their is a lot of characters usually people find a connection to some of them and feel sorry for when any of the characters are in pain.

Blue planet 2: It starts with a mans voice that has been in multiple documentary, this gives consumers a little familiarity with the show even though they haven't watched it.
The cuts they use are fluid and quick, this gives the audience a nice view of whats happening, only to see something even more beautiful. At one point their was a shot where they show whats above the oceans while contrasting with the ocean underneath, revealing its amphibians and sea weed with beautiful to attract the viewer.

(this is a documentary, classing under Information/Surveillance.)

Blog feedback and Learner Response

The strongest piece of work i have done in this subject is connotations, denotations and analysis and I feel like my weakest piece of work is on the photo story board this is because of the how i show lack of emotion in each shot and it is usually just the same face, I think I did really good on the connotations denotations and analysis is because i put a lot of effort into it and usually i do alright.
I need to work up on my grammar and punctuation towards my blogs

October assessment learner response

WWW: Good understanding of the camera shot used.                              grade: 3   marks:12/25

-A good attempt at analysing how children are represented in the media with some analysis on effect.

LR- more detailed analysis with much more key terminology to gain higher marks
-Revise denotation.

Q1. no marks. I didn't get this question because i mistook it for connotations when it was actually denotations.
Q2. 1
Q3. 1 (out of 2) I did not get full marks on this question because I didn't mention much about the producers and how they can be a group or a individual.
Q4. 1 (out of 2) I did not get full marks on this question because of how I didnt talk about the demographic type they are.
Q5. 1 (out of 2) I didn't go into deep analysis on why so I lost a mark
Q6. 1 (out of 3) I lost two marks for i did not notice a lot of important information proving it is a film poster and I did not have full knowledge and understanding of the topic.
Q7. 1 (out of 2) I was not going into full detail and didn't realise all of the connotations for the environment around the child and the meaning of his facial expression
Q8. 2 (out of 4)  I didn't get the question fully right because i didn't have full understanding of theoretical frame work and not the appropriate terminology to get more marks.
Q9. 4 (out of 8) I was not able to get full marks for I didn't have the best appropriate and effective use of terminology, I also don't have the full knowledge of why the advertisers use children in particular.

I need to use better terminology.
My strongest question was number 9. I did better on this question because I put a lot more detail and showed more understanding of the question.
My weakest question was number 6. I did worse on this question then any other because I didn't put a lot of effort into the question and stopped after saying 2 reasons on how we know its a movie, making me lose 2 marks.

Q9. (re-draft)
The reasons charities use pictures of children in advertising is to make the consumers feel sympathetic, this also makes the consumer want to come to the persons aid in some way and the only way they can do this is through water aid.
Also the facial expression of the child shows he has been suffering and adults wont like children suffering because they themselves might have children and would never want them to be in a position like the child in the advert.

Minority report analysis

The first shot is a MEDIUM SHOTThis shot gives us a small look of the environment and it also shows some of the characters facial expressions, also giving us a look at how the characters are organised, which is in a line, since they are in a line the person who is the front and at most of the focus shows he is one of the main characters/most important out of those people.

The second shot is a LONG SHOT I know this because of how the shot shows more more then a persons feet, head and the top of a car. This gives us a look at the environment of a alley way of some sort with an explosion in the background. you can also see a man attempting to get out of a car while someone is at the back of the alley way watching.

In this CLOSE UP SHOT it shows a man staring at the camera in tiredness and confidence it shows that he is either up against a corner with no where to run. In this we can see only a tiny bit of background where a car has a broken window and a air vent above him.
