Class-Co-owner of a Lonely Heart CSP

Language
1) Narrative:Class starts by continuing the narrative ark as they show us the shadow king talking to his servant in his volcanic planet about how he will try to get his heart back by any means necessary, it then starts to juxtapose with earth and the volcanic planet showing April with two swords in her hands. Suddenly April becomes progressively more violent throughout the day, she challenges a teacher when they talk about the sacrifice soldiers made for us. Eventually Ram notices her random out breaks and confronts her-talking to her about what might be happening. Then Ram drives away from the school with April then after Ram and April chat to each other April's dad then appears in front of them and talks to his daughter. Frustrated, April slowly walks towards her dad with her swords in hand. After this he frantically runs away. As soon as this happens, the new head teacher-with a sinister smile, appears and tells them to go back to school. Then Ram goes to Aprils house with her mother talks to them about how irresponsible they were. Next the head teacher calls Ms Quill for a meeting to question her on what is happening and whether or not if she wants the creature prohibiting her actions to get out. Aprils father is then seen by the viewers following April to her house, he then talks to her and the mother about how sorry he is for everything hes done. Ram then tries to stop her from killing her father and succeeds. Prepared, April helps her mother to walk again and then creates a portal to the shadow kings world-leaping into it with Ram.

Character: April, Ram Singh (These are now the confirmed protagonists and they are both in a relationship), Tanya, Aprils mother,Charlie, (These characters help the cast through emotion support or there intelligence), Head Teacher, Shadow King, Ms Quill (They are both characters with some kind of malicious intent or doing things for there own wants and needs) and Aprils dad.

Iconography: Red Motif,Orange,Blue, Flower petals(Slowly increasing other the episode-possibly to show them getting more dangerous.), Wheel chair, Black Motif, non-diegetic sound(slows down narrative) and school bell (diegetic sound).

Setting: Volcanic Planet/Shadow World, Earth, School (familiar location), Head Teachers office, back garden.

2)The beginning of the episode is the equilibrium however it quickly changes to the disruption as the shadow king plots a way to get his heart back again. It turns to the recognition when April starts arguing with the teacher in a aggressive manor and Ram notices something is happening with her as she is acting extremely strange. The reparation is when Ram convinces April to not kill her father and gives her mother the ability to walk again which startles her. There isn't a new equilibrium as the episode ends with April going after the shadow king in his world leaving it on a cliff hanger-making the viewers wonder what happens next.

3)April would fit as the heroine as she gives her mum the ability to walk again, she is kind and is now equal to the the shadow king, Charlie would be considered the hero as he is helpful towards the cast and also protective when it comes to anyone, Ms Quill and Ram Singh should be known as a false hero as they are over confident but in certain circumstances they are able to be compassionate. Tanya would be known as a helper as she aids the main characters with her intelligence and observations. The villain of the show would be the shadow king as he repeatedly tries to destroy Ms Quill, Charlie and any person who gets in his way.

4) Some of the enigma codes in Co-owner of a Lonely Heart would be the shadow king trying to kill the cast through April as they share the same hearts. Another enigma code i have noticed is the flower petals that slowly spread throughout the show. In addition, the conflict between April and the Shadow King is an action code that would interest the audience of class, since it has been going on for a while and they are anticipated to fight each other eventually. Also who is the headteacher and what her motives and intentions for the cast.

5)Binary opposition can be seen a lot in Class co-owner of a lonely heart. Light V dark is shown with the struggle between April and Shadow king (Shadow king has a world enveloped in darkness which makes this idea more shown. Right V Wrong is shown in various of ways, Ms quill wants revenge on the shadow king for killing her species but charlie believes that genocide, even for revenge, is not the best thing to do against someone who already committed genocide.

Representation
1) In Class, gender stereotypes are almost entirely subverted. April is seen as the protagonist when she jumps through the portal to attack the shadow king, protagonists are not usually female characters. Tanya is shown as intelligent but likes to play video games for her own entertainment, stereotypically, this would not be expected from someone in the BAME community. Ram, is a sporty person that gets in a relationship with April, this mostly reinforces the stereotypical male character. Ms quill is a ruthless person that tries to get everything she wants through some kind of manipulation, this is not expected as usually females are shown as supporting, kind and selfless  yet she is the opposite to all of these. Charlie is a gay alien character who is the prince of his species, this subverts a lot of expectations as you wont see many types of characters like this. However shadow king reinforces most stereotypes for male characters as he is a vigorous yet independent character. In addition Class represents males as a supporting type of character in the show. Ram is a example of this, at the end of the episode Co-owner of a lonely heart he jumps after April already went through the portal, this could show how females are the more dominant type of character

2)Teenagers in Class Co-owner of a lonely heart are depicted as very identifiable to the audience. April, is seen at the start as a socially awkward person which can be seen as relatable for a lot of people who were/are in high school. Ram, is a typical character that likes sports and can be a egotistical. Tanya, is shown as an intellectual person that revises for most of the time shes at her own home. All of the characters parents are shown as overprotective and caring to the point where Rams father doesn't like the fact that he is going out with April. Furthermore, Tanya's mother makes her revise all the time because she wants her to do well in her class. However, Aprils father was shown as irresponsible and undependable when April needed her.

3)Class has a variety of different races and ethnicities represented in there show. E.g Tanya, she and her mother are shown in a some what stereotypical way as the mothers acts like most people would expect and Tanya is a character that subverts the stereotypes of a usual black female character. Ram Singh is seen as a person that subverts a lot of stereotypes for Sikhs as he is a sporty character who unexpectedly goes against his own parents. Charlie and Ms Quill both subvert all expectations as Charlie is a gay person that has a relationship with another person in the show, this is not something that the audience would predict to happen when seeing charlie, Ms Quill also subverts anything people would expect when seeing her.

4)In class sexuality is shown in multiple ways. April and Rams relationship grows other time and is shown as a typical relationship. Although April and Rams parents do not like the idea of them together they still continue anyway, also April and Rams association is meant to be relatable to the audience because the relationship between charlie and his boyfriend is not something that is seen/shown in everyday life/TV shows.

5)Disability is only shown through Aprils mother as she is in a wheel chair. She is mainly seen as weak and defenseless for an example, when April was about to kill her father, the mother was helpless to stop her in anyway. However, she can be seen as a powerful figure in Aprils life even though she is disabled.

Audience
1) The first episode of class was the most successful out of all of the other episodes. Co owner of a lonely heart was the 7th most viewed episode.

2)The psychographic group that might enjoy class would be an aspirer because of the supernatural and scientific factor of the show like the shadow king and the portals in the school that leaves a beacon in space and time.

3)Class offers personal identity by giving the characters a relatable situation, whether in there family or there relationship problems. April would be the most relatable character as she has a big personal problem with her father and has a relationship in high school.
It also offers relationships as Ms Quill, who is perceived as a heartless character has a reason as her entire species were killed off except for her and Charlie, this would make the audience sympathize with Ms Quill.
Diversion is also offered as they show us a place called the shadow world which is volcanic.
They offer a lot of surveillance as they teach the audience how the portals work in the show.

4)In my opinion, visceral pleasure would be the main thing that applies towards class. This is because they have many characters to relate to in the show.

5)The people in the comment section believed that the main antagonist is a way to stereotypical villain for a show that likes to subvert stereotypical things.

Industry
1) BBC3s objective was to provide an "innovative programming to a target audience of viewers between 16 and 34 years old."

2)The BBC3 went online only because they realised there target audience may go onto television at different times so it was better and smarter to just send it online. Also because they use devices instead of watching TV a lot of the time.

3)Class informs the audience on how shadow king and Aprils heart are connected. It educates the consumer on how the portals in the universe of Class work and it also entertains the audience by giving several enigmas in the show like the mystery of the box in charlies house.

4)Class was only distributed online which meant that not many people even had known about the show in the first place, but it was then shown weeks later in a late night slot (also known as the graveyard slot) which meant most people, especially their target audience, wouldn't know about its existence

5)Class was mainly marketed online and was highly intractable but this wasnt enough to show enough people that might want to watch this show as it wasnt even know.
